Year 11 Physics

Task: Equation of a line.

A ball is dropped from a tall building. Readings of elapsed time from the instant of release are taken at 5 m intervals over a fall of 100 m. The times are recorded in the table below.

1.   Copy the table.

2.   Calculate time elapsed squared (t2), record your results in  the table.

3.   Draw a graph distance traveled (s) on the y axis and time elapsed squared (t2) on the x axis.

4.   Draw a line of best fit and calculate the slope of this line.

5.   Write the equation of the line.

6.   In your own words describe the equipment and set up you would use to  perform this experiment, use a diagram to illustrate.

7.    Cite reasons for errors in the results you would record from your  experiment.
