Fee Policy

To reduce the costs to parents, the school operates a Textbook and Resources Hire Scheme. The scheme also saves  parents considerable time and inconvenience in going to various retailers to purchase books and other materials. The Government pays most of the cost of this scheme direct to the school. The Parents and Citizens Association endorses the scheme and supervises the operation of this account.

 WHAT DOES THE SCHEME PROVIDE?
For students whose  parents/guardians join the scheme, the school will provide the following  items:

all prescribed textbooks for as long as they are needed in  the course, on a take home basis; use of class sets of books and resources  for in-class activities; a range of duplicated notes, booklets and student  worksheets prepared by teachers in all subject areas; most essential  consumable materials in practical subject areas such as Art, Home  Economics, Manual Arts, Physical education and Science. (Where materials  provided by the school become student property to take home, some additional fees may be charged.); A daily homework diary for all students;  a school magazine per family; a student card.

Stationery items  are excluded from the Hiring Scheme and will need to be purchased by the  students. A list of subject requisites and stationery items is available from the school office.

WHAT DOES THE SCHEME COST? The charge for each student's participation in the Hiring Scheme is:

The value of  the Textbook Allowance provided by Education Queensland. (Currently this  is $73 for students in Years 8, 9 and 10. $167 for students in Years 11 and 12. Education Queensland pays this direct to the school for all  students enrolled in February.)

 PLUS

 A Resource Fee of $120

Fees must be paid during Week 1 of the school year.

If a student  enrols (or leaves) during the year, the charge for (or refund from) the Textbook and resources Hire Scheme will be on a pro-rata basis.

Education Queensland pays in bulk direct to the school the  Textbook Allowance for all students enrolled. For any parents who elect  not to join the Hiring Scheme, the school will make a re-payment  equivalent to the Textbook Allowance. Those parents will then be required  to purchase all textbooks and pay the various subject resources and  materials charges. It is expected that the total cost to parents who elect  not to join the Hire scheme would be at least twice the value of joining the scheme

(current 2003).
